Three questions, three kinds of evidence.
It is easy to notice a purity percentage and stop reading. But purity, identity, and quantity are separate concepts. A useful review asks what was measured and what that measurement supports.
Purity
A relative measurement under a stated analytical method.
Quantity
An amount, with a stated basis such as per sample or per vial.
What does a purity percentage mean?
In an HPLC report, a purity figure may be calculated from the relative areas of detected peaks under that method. Read the method and reporting basis to understand what the percentage represents. It is not automatically a statement of the target peptide’s share of the total powder mass.

What does content or quantity mean?
The word “content” needs context. A laboratory may report a mass, a concentration, a percentage by mass, or another defined quantity. Look for the unit and the basis of calculation rather than assuming that every laboratory uses the same meaning.
A product label describes the listed amount. To evaluate a measured amount, look for the corresponding analytical result and method. A purity percentage alone does not supply that missing quantity.
Keep the unit attached to the number.
Write down the complete field: its name, value, unit, and basis. “Per vial,” “per sample,” and “per milliliter” are different pieces of information.
Where does identity fit?
Identity is the question of what the tested material is. Mass spectrometry can contribute evidence to that assessment; the strength and specificity of the conclusion depend on the method and analysis performed.
A measured mass alone should not be treated as a complete description of every structural feature. Read the laboratory’s stated conclusion and supporting information. Thermo Fisher Scientific discusses mass spectrometry in peptide analysis.
Read the results together.
Instead of asking one number to do everything, make a short list of the evidence you have:

| What does the percentage describe? | Purity method and reporting basis. |

| What questions remain? | Missing methods, unlisted tests, or unclear notes to follow up on. |
